Polish builder Sunreef unveils more of its ‘One Fifty’ concept...

This amazing 46m (151ft) super-sail project, which would become the world’s largest sailing catamaran should a client be found, really pushes the boundaries on many different levels.
MAY 2009
Indeed Sunreef has really rethought the way the big cruising catamarans are laid out. Note the full-beam deckhouse, which has become part of one unified structure rather than merely positioned on top of the deck level, and the forward cockpit. And check out how the topsides are covered in solar panels and there are no hatches as all the light comes in via the deckhouse and skylights that run far forward along both hulls. There are no guard rails either to clutter her lines. The guest and working areas are all in the middle of the yacht.
There are also separate entrances for guests and crew.
The concept also includes what is described as an ‘interior garden’, which is an interesting notion regardless of context.
At the moment the world's largest sailing catamaran is close to completion but in limbo. The title belongs to charter yacht Hemisphere – formerly known as 'Project Gemini' – but this yacht, which orginally should have delivered from Derecktor Shipyard's Bridgeport, Connecticut facility in '07, is the subject of litigation. The yard filed for Chapter 11 protection last summer. Designed by Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), she would have a length overall of 44.2m (145ft) and a gross tonnage of just under 500 when she does finally completes.
The same designers also have a 50m (164ft) schooner-cat concept that has been tank tested too.
