The world’s new biggest yacht…
She’s Lürssen’s 30-plus-knot 180m (590ft) ‘Project Azzam’ – exterior by Nauta Design and a ‘turn-of-the-century empire-influenced’ interior concept by French stylist Christophe Leoni. Amazingly after just a year of engineering, she was launch-ready in just three years.
Lürssen’s latest launch, which splashed in early April ’13, has taken the title of world’s largest yacht. The 180m (590ft) leviathan has a beam of 20.80m (68ft).
Her exterior was drawn by Nauta Design and her ‘turn-of-the-century empire-influenced’ interior scheme is the work of Christophe Leoni’s French studio.
Amongst many other features the yacht has a ‘pillarless’ 29x18m (95x59ft) open-plan main salon.
Powered by a combination of twin gas turbines and twin wing diesels, in all delivering up to a maximum 94,000hp, she is good for 30-plus knots.
Amazingly after just a year of engineering, she was launch-ready in just three years. Overall project management for the Middle Eastern owner was in the hands of Mubarak Saad al Ahbabi and Burgess.
